This musical is set in the 1920's as a slapstick comedy that follows the rivalry between two half-witted street gangs. The message is one of good clean fun and the weapons of choice are "splurge" whip cream guns, silly string and custard pies.

Forever Young 5K and the Freddy Mile will be held October 6, 2012 from 8-11am. Registration at the Seneca Falls Community Center. Visit www.foreveryoung5k.com for more information and registration form.
In the Spring of 2010 our community lost a wonderful young man. Freddy Morganti was a typical 13 year old who lived life to the fullest. Freddy was a lover of sports, especially baseball, football and wrestling. Freddy became ill and died unexpectedly the day of his first Jr. High baseball game.
In his honor his parents have created the Frederick J Morganti Memorial Scholarship. Each year this scholarship is awarded to three graduating seniors that have excelled at the sports Freddy loved.
Our mission is to raise funds to graciously support this scholarship and bring a fun community event to Seneca Falls and the surrounding area in honor of Freddy. All profits will go to the scholarship and the financing of this race.
For 2012, our goal is to raise $10,000 for the scholarship. Your support through your contributions, your participation or volunteering is greatly appreciated.

10:00 am - 5:00 pmFinger Lakes Cheese Trail’s final Open House of the Year
The Finger Lakes Cheese Trail’s final Open House of the year is slated for Saturday November 17, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Again, 14 of the 15 farms will be participating in this one-day event.
This Holiday Open House is just in time to help artisanal cheese lovers stock up for holiday parties, festive meals, and gift giving. “With many farms either closing or shortening their hours during the cold season, this is the best opportunity to visit them personally until spring,” points Susanne Messmer, of Lively Run Goat Dairy in Interlaken. Lively Run is an example of one of the farms that closes to the public until April.
On that Saturday, many of the farms will be offering farm tours, and several will have with extra activities and host local vendors to help visitors with a variety of their locavore holiday shopping needs.
The 14 Creameries that will be hosting the Open Houses on their farms are:
4 Tin Fish Farm, Port Byron
Engelbert Farms, Nichols
Finger Lakes Cheese Co., Mecklenburg
Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery, King Ferry
Hillcrest Dairy, Moravia
Jerry Dell Farm & Store, Freeville
Keeley’s Cheese Company, King Ferry
Kenton’s Cheese Company, Trumansburg
Lively Run Goat Dairy, Interlaken
Muranda Cheese Co., Waterloo
Shtayburne Farm, Rock Stream
Side Hill Acres Goat Dairy, Candor
Sunset View Creamery, Odessa
Vanillen Dairy, OvidLike with all the Trail’s Open Houses, the key to making the experience enjoyable is planning. First, make sure to bring a cooler to keep the cheese fresh while traveling between farms. Second, and probably most important, Trail reps advise going to the website, looking at the Google map, and planning a specific route by grouping four or five creameries together.
It’s important to note that there is only one Open House schedule for 2013, which will be the Columbus Day Weekend Open House. The Trail will be substituting in other events, such as their successful Finger Lakes Cheese Festival on July 27, and a series of events with the Seneca Lake Wine Trail culminating with the Wine Trail’s Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend April 26-28. The Trail is also working on a collaborative event with the Finger Lakes Beer Trail and hopes to announce details on that soon.

Standing Stone Vineyards Russian Christmas Celebration
Tom and Marti Macinski, Owners of Standing Stone Vineyards hope you are having a lovely holiday season, full of time with family, friends and wine. By virtue of Tom's Russian background they have an extended holiday season, as orthodox Christmas is on January 7. They want you to share that with them, so on Saturday, January 5 and Sunday, January 6, they will pair some Russian pierogi, kolachki, babaiki, golubtsy and gribnoy ikra with their wine tasting. Curious?! Come on in and learn about the rich Russian culture and its delightful food.
Wine tastings will go on as always on those days, but for a modest $3.00 per person, you will sample a selection of Russian food along with your tasting. (The fee is waived for our club members - Wine Club, Case Club and Barrel Owners.) While they know that all of these food selections taste great with The Dark Red, made from the Saperavi grape, they will also explore how they pair with Riesling, Chardonnay, and Gewurztraminer. Come in and help them with this research project. They want to make sure they have enough food available, so please call ahead if you plan on attending! 607-582-6051

Third and final Preferred Pairings event of 2013 at Southeast Wineries of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.
Partnership event between the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail leads up to Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend.
The third Preferred Pairings event -- a collaborative between the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail -- will be held Saturday, March 30, from 10:00am-5:00pm at 10 select wineries along Seneca Lake. Partners & Pairings is a series of three monthly events where the creameries of the Cheese Trail pair with different members of the Wine Trail to offer select pairings of reserve wines and artisanal cheeses to their audience.
At the each host winery, their visiting cheesemaker will give a brief presentation about their farm, their process and their cheeses at 10:30am, followed by a day of paired samplings. The winery will have those wine and cheese pairings available in special packaged deals for attendees. Attendees can also buy the wines and cheeses separately should they prefer.
March's host wineries are on the Southeast portion of the Wine Trail. The northernmost winery is Kings Garden Vineyards and the southernmost is JR Dill Winery.
The pairings for March 30 are:
Kings Garden Vineyards - Lively Run Goat Dairy
Caywood Vineyards - Jerry Dell Farm & Store
Penguin Bay Winery - Kenton’s Cheese Company
Tickle Hill Winery - Sunset View Creamery
Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards - Sunset View Creamery
Leidenfrost Vineyards - Lively Run Goat Dairy
Red Newt Cellars - Keeley’s Cheese Company
Chateau LaFayette Reneau - Muranda Cheese Company
Atwater Estate Vineyards - Side Hill Acres Goat Dairy
JR Dill Winery - Vanillen Dairy"By having the wineries grouped near each other, it makes it easier for people to get around," explains Carmella Hoffman of Sunset View Creamery in Odessa, just outside of Watkins Glen. "So they're able to get to all 10 participating wineries over the course of the day, and try all the pairings."
Tickets to the event are limited to 400, or 40 at each starting winery, and are only $15 per person when purchased in advance through the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, or $20 at the door the day of the event at select wineries. Advance tickets for March 30 are still available for all ten starting wineries.
Following this final Preferred Pairings event is Wine Trail's popular Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend, April 26-28. This event is also co-sponsored by the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail, and will feature the Trail's cheeses in dishes at the wineries all weekend long. As Tom Murray, of Muranda Cheese Co. in Waterloo puts it, "Think of the Preferred Pairings as a primer to the big Wine & Cheese Weekend in April."

In this episode filmmaker Ken Burns focuses on the increasing demands placed on national parks after World War II as new efforts are created to preserve wildlife and natural areas. The series concludes with the creation of seven new national parks in Alaska which doubles the size of the national park system. The running time for Episode Three of The National Parks is 116 minutes.
Women’s Rights National Historical Park commemorates and preserves the sites associated with the First Women’s Rights Convention, held in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York. “We are proud to be part of the National Park system, and we invite everyone to join us in enjoying Ken Burns’ film about our national parks,” said Superintendent Tammy Duchesne. “The Winter Film Festival is a fun way to learn about our national history,” added Superintendent Duchesne.
All Winter Film Festival showings will occur at 12:00 Noon on Fridays and Saturdays at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park Visitor Center, located at 136 Fall Street in Seneca Falls. All film showings are free of charge. The Winter Film Festival films are intended for a general audience. Visitors are encouraged to call if they are interested in a particular showing as film lengths vary.

Winemaker Wednesdays
Winemaker Wednesdays is really for one kind of person: the type of person that not only loves to drink wine, but adores learning about it, talking to people about it, experiencing it. Certainly everybody is invited to this limited series of unique, custom winery experiences, though it has been conceived for passionate, curious fans of wine, winemaking and all that goes into that. Each winery has crafted some kind of unique, or special event or activity for these days. And the programs may change from one Wednesday to the next. It is necessary for you to call the winery and make an appointment for these, and at that time you can confirm their offering. The reason an appointment is required, is because many wineries commit one or two members of their senior leadership (owner and/or winemaker or vineyard manager, oftentimes) to conduct the program, and typically those individuals have a slew of other tasks and chores they should be doing, and appointments enable them to manage their time best. Some of these offerings have fees associated with them, most do not. Most have limited time constraints, some do not. Every Winemaker Wednesday takes place on the second Wednesday of the given month. For a more detailed list of the varying opportunities offered by the participating wineries please visit our website.

7:00 pm - 10:00 amWomen’s Rights National Historical Park hosts events to commemorate the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court Decision
In recognition of the anniversary of the 1954 landmark Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education, Women’s Rights National Historical Park will host a series of events on May 17th & 18th to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the decision.
On Friday, May 17th, Dr. James Michael Valenti, assistant professor of criminal justice at Finger Lakes Community College will reflect upon this groundbreaking case with an informative lecture. The event begins at 7:00 PM in the park visitor center theater, 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls.
Valenti, an experienced speaker, brings this case to life in this riveting presentation. The class action case, Brown v. Board of Education, which ended legal segregation in public schools, is a testament to the hope and courage of thirteen Topeka parents on behalf of their twenty children. When these parents agreed to be plaintiffs in the case, they never knew they would be a part of history. They were teachers, secretaries, welders, ministers and students who simply wanted to be treated equally. The program will be followed by a reception. On Saturday, May 18th, at 10:00 am, the park will show the film Black/White & Brown; Brown versus the Board of Education of Topeka, which narrates the Brown v. Board of Education decision. This decision by the U.S. Supreme Court ended the practice of racial segregation throughout the United States, and is seen today as a land mark in the Civil Rights Movement.
Following the film at 11:00 am, the park will offer an activity for children, ages 8 – 12 in which they will present a mock news cast on the Brown v. Board of Education decision. The news cast will be videotaped and may be posted on the park’s website. Following this activity at 12:00 pm, children, ages 4 – 12 will be invited to participate in a contest by drawing a sidewalk mural in chalk to help commemorate the Brown v. Board of Education decision. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
As we mark the anniversary of the court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education, Chief of Interpretation Ami Ghazala said “Brown v. Board was a landmark case that essentially overturned the 1896 Plessy decision of "separate but equal", striking down all laws mandating racially-segregated educational facilities. The NPS is proud to host events such as this one”.
All events will take place in the park visitor center at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit our website at www.nps.gov/wori or call (315) 568-0024.
